Penn College routs Wells

AURORA, N.Y. — At Wells College on Tuesday, Penn College scored an 89-24 United East women's basketball win. The Wildcats now are 2-3 in the conference and 3-11 overall, while Wells is 0-6 UE and 0-15 overall.
 
How it happened: The Wildcats raced to an early 16-2 lead, with Lexi Troup scoring eight points including a pair of treys; led 22-8 after the first quarter, and pulled away from there — building a 37-point (49-12) margin at the half.
 
Penn College stretched its lead to 54 points late in the third quarter at 74-16, after a trey by Kassidi Lenhart, and went ahead by as many as 67 (89-22) on a Lexi Troup layup with 1:33 left.
 
Inside the box: Lexi Troup ended with a game and season-high 25 points for the Wildcats, while Aubrey Stetts scored 14 points. Rachel Teats led Penn College with seven rebounds and Kayleigh Miller dished out six assists. Team-wise, the Wildcats outscored Wells in the paint, 46-14; in points off 36 turnovers, 43-7; and in fast-break points, 22-0. Their 65-point victory margin bested last season's widest margin of 61 in a 98-37 win over Penn State Berks on Feb. 4.
 
Morgan Adams led Wells with 10 points.
