WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — Penn College scored a 53-48 home United East women's basketball win over Gallaudet University on Friday, evening its UE record at 3-3 and improving its overall record to 4-11. Gallaudet now is 2-5 in the conference and 3-13 overall.
How it happened: After first-quarter ties at five- and seven-all, Penn College went ahead 21-9 after a 14-2 run with
Aubrey Stetts scoring four points and
Lexi Troup and
Rachel Teats three each on treys. Another 3-pointer by Teats gave the Wildcats their first 14-point lead at 27-13 with 8:32 left in the half.
Down 35-23 at the intermission, Gallaudet outscored Penn College 11-4 in the third frame to close within five at 39-34 at the turn for home, and the Bison continued to chip away with a 9-2 start in the fourth to take a 43-41 lead.
Kayleigh Miller reclaimed the lead for the Wildcats at 44-43 with a trey at the 4:30 mark, and they led the rest of the way.
Inside the box: Teats had a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds for the Wildcats, while
Lexi Troup scored 13 points and Miller 12 as they combined for eight 3-point goals with three each by Teats and Troup and two by Miller.
Rajena Guettler led Gallaudet with a game-high 14 points.
