WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — Penn College lost to St. Mary's (Md.) College, 70-56, in a home United East women's basketball game on Saturday. Penn College now is 3-4 in the conference and 4-12 overall. St. Mary's is 5-2 in the UE and 9-6 on the season.
How it happened: Emily Pardee scored four points as the Wildcats jumped to an early 8-3 lead before St. Mary's forced ties at eight- and 10-all and went on to lead 22-16 at the quarter's end. Penn College knotted the score at 22 on an
Aubrey Stetts jump shot at the 6:51 mark during a 6-0 run before St. Mary's responded with a 7-0 run of its own and took a 33-26 advantage into halftime.
A trey by
Lexi Troup and a layup by Pardee cut the difference to four at 35-31 in the third before the Seahawks opened a 15-point lead at 50-35 and carried an 11-point (52-41) lead into the fourth. During the last 10 minutes, St. Mary's led by no fewer than 10 points the rest of the way.
Inside the box: Lexi Troup led Penn College with 22 points and seven rebounds while Pardee scored 18 points.
Karon Williams scored a game-high 26 points for St. Mary's and teammate Samantha Blalock added 21 points.
