ABINGTON, Pa. — Penn College led for all but 59 seconds during a 68-55 United East women's basketball game at Penn State Abington on Tuesday. Penn College now is 4-4 in the UE and 5-12 overall, while Abington is 2-6 in the conference and 4-11 overall.
How it happened: After three early lead changes, the Wildcats went ahead 7-6 on a 3-point shot by
Lexi Troup and went out in front 18-13 at the end of the first quarter. Penn College owned the second quarter as well, building a 12-point lead twice and finishing the half ahead, 37-25.
In the third frame,
Emily Pardee scored six points and
Rachel Teats added five as the Wildcats extended their lead to 22 points (57-35) at the turn for home, and in the fourth they upped the difference to 24 at 59-35 on a layup by
Ja'Quela Dyer with 9:31 to play before going on to win by 13.
Inside the box: Kayleigh Miller led Penn College with a game-high 20 points, while Teats finished with 15 points and
Lexi Troup 14. Dyer and Pardee each had seven rebounds to pace the Wildcats and Teats led with six assists.
Angela Sanders scored 16 points to lead PS Abington.
