WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — Penn College lost, 77-57, to Penn State Harrisburg in a United East women's basketball game on Friday. Penn College now is 0-2 in the conference and 1-10 overall. PS Harrisburg is 2-0 in the UE and 5-6 overall.
How it happened: In the first quarter, Penn State Harrisburg scored the first eight points before the Wildcats came back on layups by
Aubrey Stetts and
Ja'Quela Dyer and a 3-point shot by
Rachel Teats to pull within one. The Lions then scored the next 11 points to lead by 12 and closed out the quarter with a 24-11 advantage.
A 12-4 second-quarter start put PS Harrisburg ahead by 21 at 36-15 with 6:24 on the clock but the Wildcats battled back with a 17-3 burst, fueled by nine points from
Lexi Troup and four from
Maddie Adams, to pull within seven at 39-32 with 1:03 left in the half.
Penn College got to within six at 42-36 with 7:20 left in the third frame after a Stetts layup, but that was as close as it could get the rest of the way.
Inside the box: Lexi Troup and Adams each scored 13 points for the Wildcats, while
Emily Pardee recorded a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Kendis Butler led Penn State Harrisburg with a game-high 19 points. The Lions led in points off turnovers, 34-14.
