WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Penn College surrendered a pair of second half goals in a 2-1 setback to Penn State Abington in a United East men's soccer match Tuesday at UPMC Field. The Wildcats fell to 1-1-1 United East, 6-4-2 overall, while the Nittany Lions improved to 2-0, 6-4-3.
How it happened:
Matt Neeson broke a scoreless tie in the 38
th minute with his second goal of the season and 1-0 Penn College lead.
Clayton Gothel's attempt in the 40
th minute was saved and the Wildcats headed into the break with a one goal lead.
Penn College put two balls on target in the opening 30 minutes of the second half, but both were turned away. Abington knotted the game at 1-1 in the 79
th minute and netted the eventual game-winner five minutes later.
Inside the box: Both teams finished with 11 shots, with Abington putting six on frame and the Wildcats sending four on target. The Lions held an 8-6 advantage in corner kicks.
Cole Catherman finished with four saves in goal for Penn College.
