WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Penn College handled Penn State Abington, 4-0, in the opening round of the United East Volt Division playoffs Saturday at UPMC Field. The Wildcats improved to 11-1-7, while the Nittany Lions concluded their season at 2-14.
Penn College advances to Tuesday divisional semifinal at Penn State Harrisburg at a time still to be determined.
How it happened:
Kaelynn Sheetz converted a
Brooke Klinger pass in the ninth minute for her 24
th goal of the season and a 1-0 Penn College lead.
Cassie Johnson made it 2-0 in the 13
th minute after she deposited
Sara Darlington's pass.
Johnson found Billiegean Hennessy in the 52
nd minute to make it 3-0 before Darlington fired a ball from 30 yards for her eighth goal of the year and a 4-0 advantage.
Inside the box: Penn College outshot Abington, 28-3, and held a 7-4 advantage in corner kicks.
Nicole Lichtinger turned away one shot in goal.
