Wildcats Win Big for First Victory of the Season

ELMIRA, N.Y. -- Penn College routed SUNY Delhi, 71-23, on Sunday at the Elmira College Tip-Off Tournament for the Wildcats first victory of the season. Freshman Keeley Baker led the Wildcats with a 12-point, 11-rebound double-double in just 12 minutes of action. PCT improves to 1-2 while dropping the Broncos to 0-3.

How it happened: Penn College led wire-to-wire while holding the Broncos to just 19% shooting (8-for-42) and forcing 32 turnovers in the victory. The Wildcats were hot early as they built a 20-2 lead after the first 10 minutes. Baker capped the game-opening 11-point run with a layup three minutes into the game to put the 'Cats up 11-0 before the Broncos got on the board with a free throw at the 6:22 mark.

The Wildcats continued the dominant effort, holding the Broncos to 10-or-less points in every frame. PCT's lead ballooned to 33-5 at the half. Shelby Pyatt, Emily Pardee, Allie Troup Maddie Adams and Kayleigh Baker all added to the score in the second quarter.

With the lead seemingly out of reach, the Wildcats added 38 more points in the third and fourth quarters combined.

Pardee added eight points and seven boards while Bell Hitesman and Mia Patterson both finished with seven points. 12 different Wildcats recorded at least one basket to contribute in the victory.
