Penn College Tops Mounties, 102-84

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. -- The Penn College men's basketball team reached the century mark for the first time since the 2019-20 season-opener. PCT defeated Mount Aloysius, 102-84, Tuesday night in nonconference action. The Wildcats improve to 3-4 while the Mounties sit at 1-4.

How it happened: The Wildcats and Mounties played close through the first five minutes of action before PCT began pulling away with back-to-back threes from DJ Smith III and David Brown for a 16-12 lead. Livingston Cross added another trey at the 12:29 mark to give the 'Cats a 21-14 lead. After Mount Aloysius tightened the score 32-30 with six minutes remaining, a Cross layup, Max Jackowsky trey and an Ahmir Ellzy layup pushed the lead back to double-digits (41-31) with five minutes left in the half. PCT maintained the double-digit lead at the break with a 49-38 advantage.

Penn College opened up the second half with a 13-6 run through the first four minutes as Cross' triple at the 15:59 mark made the score 62-44. The Wildcats would let the Mounties within single digits just twice in all of the second half while cruising to the victory.

Inside the box: Cross finished the night with a team-best 28 points on 11-of-19 shooting while adding six boards and two assists. Gavin Barrett tallied 19 points and seven rebounds. Jackowsky added 16 while Ellzy and Smith III both scored 10. PCT shot 54.2% (39-72) for the game and drained 11 threes.

Four Mounties reached double-digits as De'Von Haggans recorded a 16-point, 11-rebound double-double. PCT forced 23 turnovers and held the Mounties to just 2-of-14 shooting from three-point range.
