WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Penn College dropped a 64-54 decision to Lycoming College in a nonconference women's basketball game Tuesday. The Warriors remained undefeated at 4-0, while the Wildcats fell to 1-5.
How it happened: Lycoming jumped out to a 5-0 lead before Penn College answered with an 11-2 run to take an 11-7 lead on
Lexi Troup's three with 6:54 left in the opening quarter – Troup led the run with eight points. Following two more lead changes, the Wildcats took control when
Emily Pardee's layup gave PCT a 14-13 lead, and PCT eventually led 18-15 at the end of the quarter.
The Wildcats took their largest lead, 25-21, after
Rachel Teats' three with 6:04 left in the half before the Warriors answered with a 6-0 spurt to even the game at 27 two minutes later. Penn College built its lead back to three, 30-27, until Lycoming hit the equalizer with 30 seconds remaining to send the game into halftime tied at 30.
The Warriors opened the third with a 13-4 run to take a 43-34 lead with 4:40 on the clock and led 45-40 at the end of the quarter. Penn College started the fourth with a 10-0 run and took a 50-45 advantage when
Kenni Galbreath converted a layup with 5:45 remaining in the game. Lycoming finished the game with a 19-4 scoring run.
Inside the box:
Lexi Troup finished with a team-high 16 points and grabbed a team-best eight rebounds. Teats and Pardee both added 12 for the Wildcats.
Lycoming converted 25 offensive rebounds into 22 second-chance points.
