WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. -- A 13-0 run to open the game fueled Penn College women's basketball's 67-42 victory over Penn State Berks in United East Conference action on Saturday. The Wildcats picked up their first conference win to move to 1-1 (2-6 overall) while dropping Berks to 0-2 (1-7 overall).
How it happened: Rachel Teats scored five,
Emily Pardee added four and
Allie Troup drained a jumper to give the Wildcats the 13-0 lead out of the gate.
Kenni Galbreath closed the first 10 minutes with a basket and a 22-4 Wildcat lead.
Keeley Baker put the Wildcats up by 20 with a layup early in the second as the 'Cats maintained a 15-plus lead in the quarter for a 35-20 lead at the break. The Wildcats dominated the second half with
Mia Patterson stretching the Wildcats largest lead in the third quarter to 19 (46-27 ) at the two-minute mark and a Teats triple early in the fourth gave Penn College a 53-32 lead.
Inside the box: Teats tallied a team-high 21 points and added eight rebounds, six assists, five steals and a block to stuff the score book.
Kayleigh Miller joined Teats in double figures with 10 and
Emily Pardee finished with eight points and three assists. PCT limited Berks to 25.9% shooting (15-for-58) while the defense caused eight steals and forced 17 turnovers.
Ashlyn Clark and Hailey Miller both scored 15 for Berks.
Up next: Penn College is back on its home court on Friday, Dec. 8, at 5 p.m. against Keuka in non-conference action.
