HUNTINGDON, Pa. – Penn College was edged by Juniata, 60-54, in the first round of the Doc Greene Tournament in a nonconference men's basketball game Friday. The Wildcats fell to 4-8, while the Eagles improved to 6-4.
How it happened: Trailing 9-5 to begin the game, Penn College used a 5-0 run to take a 10-9 lead on Ronn Flood Jr.'s layup with 12:44 on the clock. Juniata answered with a 15-4 spurt to take a 24-14 lead with 7:39 left in the opening half before heading into the break ahead, 32-27.
The Wildcats stormed out of the locker room with a 10-3 scoring run and took their first lead of the half, 37-35, on a
Livingston Cross layup with 16:11 left in the game. Cross gave the Wildcats their largest lead, 46-41, with a bucket at 11:41 before Juniata went on a 16-0 run to take the lead for good.
Inside the box: Cross finished scored a team-high 20 points and grabbed a game-best 14 rebounds.
Landon Reeder finished a career-high 13 points, while
Gavin Barrett dished out a game-high seven assists.
