WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. -- The Penn College women's basketball team fell to Marywood, 61-51, in nonconference action on Saturday as the Wildcats' second half comeback fell short. PCT dropped to 3-7 overall while the Pacers go to 4-7.
How it happened: Marywood dropped 26 first quarter points and led 35-16 at the break before Penn College outpaced the Pacers 35-26 in the second half.
Rachel Teats set the second half tone with three straight baskets and
Emily Pardee added a layup midway through the quarter to pull the Wildcats within 16 (40-24).
Lexi Troup nailed a trey to close the third frame down 47-29.
After Marywood pushed its lead back to 20, Penn College started a 15-6 run, converting all 10Â made free throws, a Teats jumper and a Troup three to get within 12 (56-44), with 6:44 left in the game. Four minutes later,
Kayleigh Miller drained a three from the wing to get the 'Cats within seven (56-49) with 2:53 on the clock, but it was the closest Penn College could get as Marywood hit five-of-eight from the line in the closing minutes.Â
Inside the box: Teats recorded her third-straight 20-point game after finishing with 21. Teats added seven defensive rebounds (8 total), two assists and a steal. Pardee added 10 points, three rebounds, three assists and two steals for the Wildcats.Â
Three Pacers reached double-digits as Faith Hendricks led the team with a 20-point, 12-rebound double-double.
