READING, Pa. – Penn College punched its ticket to the United East playoffs with a 63-48 win over Penn State Berks Friday. The Wildcats reached double-digits in wins for the first time since 2014-15 after improving to 9-7 United East, 10-15 overall, and earned the program's first-ever trip in the NCAA era to the conference postseason.
How it happened: Following three deadlocks to open the game, Berks took an 11-8 lead with 3:01 on clock before a
Rachel Teats layup with 25 second left, and
Kayleigh Miller's buckets with six ticks remaining, gave PCT a 12-11 lead after one. Following four lead changes to start the second,
Shelby Pyatt's layup with 6:32 before halftime gave the Wildcats the lead for good en route to a 28-23 halftime lead.
The Wildcats led the entire third quarter, reaching a double-digit advantage on
Maddie Adams' three with 2:18 on the clock before leading 43-32 at the end of the period. Penn College maintained a double-digit lead the entire fourth quarter.
Inside the box:
Lexi Troup and Teats led Penn College with 11 points each and Troup finished with a team-best nine rebounds.
Hailey Miller scored a game-high 23 for Penn State Berks.
