WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Penn College improved to 2-0 following a 14-11 win over Marywood in a nonconference men's lacrosse game Wednesday at UPMC Field.
How it happened: The Wildcats jumped out to a 2-0 lead after scores from C.J. Jones and A.J. Dotson with 7:52 left in the first. The Pacers netted their first score with 1:07 remaining but
Devin Page and
Isaac Hernandez netted back-to-back goals to lead 4-1 at the end of the first.
Trevor Soli made it 5-1 early in the second but Marywood pumped in consecutive man-up goals to make it 5-3. The Wildcats answered with a pair of goals from Dotson and
James Thatcher, and countered a Marywood goal with another Soli score, to lead 8-4 at halftime.
The Pacers made it an 8-6 game with consecutive goals to start the third before Soli,
Croix Teter, and
Brendan Kuczma all netted shots to give PCT an 11-6 advantage. Marywood closed the gap to 11-9 after a trio of goals to end the third and start the fourth. Penn College scored three-straight to lead 14-9 with 4:02 on the clock and held off a late Marywood push to secure the win.
Inside the box: Thatcher and Soli led Penn College with four points each, while
James Cella improved to 2-0 between the pipes with 16 saves.
