Penn College edges Lancaster Bible

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Penn College edged Lancaster Bible College, 50-47, in a United East women's basketball contest Wednesday. The Wildcats improved to 8-5 UE, 9-13 overall, while the Chargers fell to 7-6, 12-9.

How it happened: Penn College jumped out to 6-0 lead, and eventually a 10-2 advantage, on Ja'Quela Dyer's free throw with 3:51 left in the first quarter. Rachel Teats' trey late in the first put the Wildcats ahead 14-6 at the end of the first. Penn College led the entire second quarter and took a 29-20 advantage into the locker room.

Bible opened the second half with an 8-0 run to get within one, 29-28, with 6:56 left in the third before a three from Kayleigh Miller, and a layup from Lexi Troup, gave PCT a 34-28 lead with 4:31 on the clock. The Chargers ended the period with a 6-0 spurt to even the game at 34.

Bible tied the game four times in the fourth, but on each occasion the Wildcats answered with a score – including twice in the final three minutes. After the Chargers evened the game at 45, Teats' jumper put Penn College ahead by two. LBC knotted the game again at 47, but Lexi Troup answered with a long ball to make it 50-47 with 2:36 left.

Inside the box: Aubrey Stetts netted a game-high 14 points, while Teats added 12, and Lexi Troup finished with 10.

Up next: Penn College returns to action Saturday, 1 p.m., hosting Penn State Abington.
