WILLIAMSPORT, PA - The Wildcats split their home opener with Elmira College on Monday afternoon. The Wildcats lost game one 2-1 before winning game two by a score of 1-0. The Wildcats improve to 4-4 overall while the Soaring Eagles fall to 1-5.
In game one,
Trailing 2-0 in the bottom of the sixth Penn College scored one run on a fielder's choice by
Lexi Snyder. Unfortunately, Elmira was able to get out of the second and third jam by getting two outs to finish the Wildcats rally. The Wildcats had runners on second and third with a chance to walk-off the game but Madison Shafer flew out to left ending the game.
Ivvy Morder had two hits in the game. Mackenzie Weaver (2-3) took the loss. She struck out 10 batters allowing just three hits and two unearned runs.
In game two,
Both pitcher's pitched well allowing only four hits apiece. The Wildcats scored the only run of the game in the bottom of the fifth inning on a Madison Hurst sac fly to left field.
Weaver had two hits in game two and
Kyla Benner notched her second win of the season on the mound. Benner scattered four hits while striking out 10 Soaring Eagles.
The Wildcats return to action tomorrow as they take on Lycoming College at Elm Park. First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 PM.
