WILLIAMSPORT, PA - The Wildcats won, two one run games on Tuesday afternoon against the visiting Warriors of Lycoming College. The Wildcats won game one by a score of 1-0 before winning game two 3-2. The Wildcats improve to 6-4 on the season while the Warriors drop to 6-4.
In game one,
MacKenzie Weaver did it all in game one. On the mound she recorded a complete game shutout and offensively had the only RBI on a single to center in the bottom of the first inning. Weaver was dominant in the circle scattering six hits in seven innings. She struck out eight batters for her third win of the season.
In game two,
The Wildcats scored three runs in the bottom of the second inning to take an early 3-0 lead.
Madison Shaffer got the scoring going on a two-RBI single down the right field line that just stayed fair.
Maddie Hurst followed up with her own RBI single to right to put the Wildcats up 3-0.
With the Wildcats leading 3-2 in the top of the fourth inning,
Johanna Devore (1-0) came in relief of starting pitcher
Kyla Benner and worked out of a one out bases loaded jam. Devore got a popout to short and groundout to second to stymie the Warriors rally. Devore closed the game out allowing just one hit while striking out two Warriors. In the process she picked up her first collegiate win.
Madison Herriman led the Wildcats with two hits on offense.
The Wildcats return to action Saturday when they host Penn State Altoona in a doubleheader. Game one is slated for 1 pm.
