Wildcats Open Spring Break Trip with 3-2 Record

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Penn College opened their Spring Break trip by splitting series with Hilbert College and La Roche University before winning a single 9-inning game verse Rivier University.  Penn College sees their record improve to 3-4 overall.
 
Against Hilbert College,

Trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the second inning of game one, the Wildcats plated three runs en route to a 4-2 win.  Brian Robison laced a two-RBI single to left that scored Cameron Dick and Tristan CurrentNathan Gustkey tacked on an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth inning on a RBI single to left. 

Chance Webb (1-1) notched his first win of the year allowing one earned run in five innings pitched.  Shane Price led the Wildcats with two hits and two runs scored.

In game two,
The Wildcats lost 5-4 allowing a walk-off RBI double in the bottom of the seventh inning.  The Wildcats opened up a 4-0 lead after five innings of play thanks to a Kevin Cute two-RBI single to center in the fourth, followed by a RBI double to right by Quinn Hanafin and a RBI single to center by Tristan Current.  Hilbert tied the game at 4-4 in the bottom of the sixth before walking it off in the seventh. 

Justin Porter pitched a solid five-innings of two hit ball while striking out seven batters in the no-decision.
 
Against Rivier University,
Penn College righted the ship on Monday evening with a convincing 18-6 win over Rivier University.  Shane Price launched the Wildcats first home run of the season on a two-run shot in the top of the first inning.  The Wildcats offense would go on to score 14 more runs over the next three innings to lead 16-0 after four. 

Six Wildcats posted multi-hit efforts from the plate.  Tyler Rudolph and Cameron Dick led the way with three hits each.  Jake Wagner, Brian Robison, Jacob Carles, Nathan Gustkey and Brian Robison all had a pair of hits on the evening. 

Keegan Nytz (1-0) picked up the win allowing zero hits, while striking out four batters in two innings of relief.
 
Against La Roche University,
On Tuesday morning, Penn College dropped game one to La Roche by a score of 13-7.  Brian Robison finished 2-for-2 in the game with a solo home run, two RBIs and two runs scored.  Tyler Rudolph connected on a solo shot in the sixth inning.  Ben Bretzman (0-2) took the loss allowing eight runs (four earned) on seven hits over four innings pitched.

In game two,
Trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the first inning, Tyler Rudolph belted a three-run home run to left to put the Wildcats up 3-1.  Cameron Dick padded the Wildcats lead with a two-run shot of his own to centerfield to extend the lead to 5-2.  La Roche trimmed the lead to 5-4 before Penn College exploded for four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to put the game out of reach at 9-4.

Rudolph finished the game 2-for-3 with three RBIs and three runs scored.  Quinn Hanafin had two hits including a two-RBI double to left center.  Zac Weaver (1-0) picked up his first win of the season scattering eight hits with four runs allowed.

The Wildcats continue their Spring Break trip on Wednesday with a single 9-inning game verse Catholic University.  First pitch is scheduled for 10 am.
