AURORA, N.Y. – Penn College swept a United East softball doubleheader against Wells College Friday. The Wildcats improved to 11-1 United East, 19-5 overall after a 9-0 win in game one and a 24-0 victory in game two.
How it happened: In game one, Penn College totaled 11 hits and plated a run in the first, second, and fifth innings and scored three in both the third and fourth.
In game two, the Wildcats picked up 17 hits while scoring three in the first, 14 in the second, one in third, two in the fourth, and four in the fifth.
Inside the box:
Ivvy Morder picked up two hits and plated three runners in game one.
Maddie Hurst also finished with a pair of hits. Mackenzie Weaver improved to 10-2 after firing five perfect innings. She allowed no hits, no walks, and struck out nine.
Hurst finished with three hits and three RBI for the Wildcats, while
Jordan Specht,
Jesse Brumbaugh, Mackenzie Weaver,
Lexi Snyder, and
Alyssa Rusnock all picked up a pair of hits. Weaver finished with a game-high five RBI, and Snyder,
Margaret Mangene,
Jaylynn Cochran, Rusnock, and Skeylar Splain all batted in multiple runs.
Johanna Devore improved to 3-0 after a five-inning one-hitter. She struck out four and walked no batters.
