READING, Pa. — Penn College dropped tennis matches at Penn State Berks in United East action on Monday, the men falling 7-2 and the women losing 9-0. The Wildcat men now are 1-4 in the conference and 2-6 overall, while the women are 0-4 UE and 2-7 overall. Berks' men are 2-2 UE, 7-3 overall and its women are 1-3 UE, 1-9 overall.
How it happened: Penn College's men won two singles events, while losing four in singles and dropping all three doubles matches. The Wildcat women lost all six singles and three doubles matches.
Inside the box: Winning for the men were
Paul Langbein at No. 1 singles, 6-4, 6-4, and
Logan Ogden at No. 5 singles, 6-4. 6-2.
For the women,
Ellen Buckley, at No. 1 singles, and
Emma Fox, at No. 3 singles, had the most competitive matches as they extended their Berks opponents to three sets before falling, both by 10-7 in the third.
