LANCASTER, Pa. – Penn College swept a United East softball doubleheader against Lancaster Bible College Friday. The Wildcats won game one, 6-3, and took the nightcap, 10-1 in five innings, and improved to 11-3 UE, 21-7 overall.
In game one,
Penn College jumped out to a 3-0 lead when
Maddie Hurst stole home, and
Ivvy Morder singled in a run in the first and
Madison Shaffer legged out an inside the park homerun in the second. The Chargers tied the game with three runs in the third before Penn College added a run in the sixth and two in the seventh on errors by LBC.
Hurst, Morder, and
Margaret Mangene each picked up two hits for Penn College. Mackenzie Weaver improved to 11-3 after seven innings on the rubber. She allowed three earned, on five hits, with nine strikeouts, and one walk.
In game two,
The Wildcats plated all 10 runs in the first inning. Morder brought in three runs with a double,
Lexi Snyder drove in a pair with a double, while
Jordan Specht,
Madison Herriman,
Kyla Benner, Mangene, and Weaver each had an RBI hit.
Snyder finished with three hits, and Hurst, Weaver, Morder, and Shaffer each added a pair of knocks. Benner improved to 8-3 after five innings of work. She allowed one earned, on seven hits, with one strikeout, and three walks.
