WILLIAMSPORT, PA – Penn College and Lancaster Bible split a pair of games on Friday afternoon. The Chargers won game on 1-0 before the Wildcats won game two 13-6. The Wildcats record improves to 17-15 overall and 12-4 in the United East. The Chargers stand at 12-21 overall and 9-8 in the UE.
In game one,
The Wildcats connected on seven hits but were unable to push a run across the plate as Lancaster Bible won 1-0. The Chargers plated the lone run of the game on a double steal of second and home.
Justin Porter (2-2) took the hard luck loss on the mound. Porter allowed four hits and one run, striking out three in seven innings pitched. Offensively,
Shane Price paved the way with a 3-for-3 effort and
Brian Robison had a two-hit game.
In game two,
Penn College exploded for four runs in the bottom of the first inning en route to a 13-6 win.
Jacob Carles got the Wildcats on the board with an RBI single to second. Leading 2-0,
Shane Price launched a two-run double off the left center wall.
In the bottom of the fourth inning the Wildcats extended their lead to 7-1.
Brian Robison knocked in
Cameron Dick on an RBI single to center field and
Jake Wagner laced a two run double down the right field line plating
Tristan Current and
Brian Robison.
After Lancaster Bible chipped into the lead with five runs over the fifth, sixth and seventh innings, Penn College responded with three runs in the bottom of the seventh to pad their lead at 11-6.
Cameron Dick provided the final two runs of the game for Penn College with a two-run home run to left in the bottom of the eighth inning.
Chance Webb (5-2) notched his fifth win of the season scattering six hits and three runs (two earned over five-innings. Four different Wildcats had multi-hit efforts on the afternoon.
Jake Wagner paved the way with a 4-for-5 effort and three RBI's. Dick, Current and Robison all finished with two hits apiece.
The Wildcats will conclude their three game series with the Chargers at home tomorrow morning at 10:30 am.
