ALTOONA, Pa. — Penn College split a nonconference twin bill at Penn State Altoona on Tuesday, winning the first game, 10-8, and losing the second, 11-4, to go to 19-16 overall. PS Altoona is 15-22.
How it happened: The Wildcats scored five runs in the fifth inning and three in the sixth of the first game before PS Altoona came out strong in the second game, leading 9-2 after innings and going on for its win.
Inside the box: In the opener,
Quinn Hanafin and
Tristan Current both went 3 for 4 at the plate with Hanafin driving in three runs and scoring twice and Current plating two runs and scoring once as they, along with
Tyler Rudolph and
Brian Robison each hit home runs. Starting pitcher
Zac Weaver went five innings and improved to 5-1.
Wildcats' starting pitcher
Jason Cute went one inning and took the loss in the nightcap. Hanafin had a home run, double and two RBIs.
