WILLIAMSPORT, PA – Penn College swept a twin-bill with Gallaudet University on Friday afternoon. The Wildcats improved to 13-5 overall and 5-1 in the United East after winning game one 10-0 and game two 9-1.
In game one,
Penn College scored nine runs in the fifth and sixth innings as they run ruled Gallaudet 10-0 in six innings.
Maddie Hurst hit a two-run home run to left in the bottom of the fifth-inning and
Ivvy Morder walked the game off in the bottom of the sixth with a three-run shot to left to give the Wildcats the 10-0 victory.
MacKenzie Weaver (7-3) continued her strong season in the circle as she notched her third complete game shutout of the season. Weaver struck out seven over six innings allowing just one hit. Hurst led the Wildcats from the plate with a perfect 4-for-4 effort with three RBI's and three runs scored.
Jordan Specht had three hits, two RBI's and two runs scored.
In game two,
Penn College plated five runs in the bottom of the third-inning with
Ivvy Morder launching her second home run of the afternoon to left center. Leading 5-1 in the bottom of the sixth the Wildcats plated four runs on a two-rbi single by
Johanna Devore, an RBI single by
Kyla Benner and sac fly to center by
Madison Shaffer.
Kyla Benner picked up her fifth win of the season striking out six allowing just three hits and one unearned run. Benner surpassed Morgan Heritage for the all-time program strikeout record. Benner also finished a perfect 4-for-4 from the plate.
Jordan Specht and
MacKenzie Weaver each recorded three hits in game two.
The Wildcats return to action tomorrow as they take on Lancaster Bible in a doubleheader. First pitch from Elm Park is scheduled for 1:00 pm.
