WILLIAMSPORT, PA – Penn College won a pair of games on Saturday afternoon by the scores of 7-2 and 6-4. The Wildcats improve to 15-9 overall and 10-1 in United East play. The Wells Express drop to 7-18 overall and 1-11 in the conference.
In game one,
Penn College exploded for six runs in the bottom of the first inning enroute to a 7-2 victory.
Tyler Rudolph ripped a two-RBI double down the right field line that scored
Nathan Gustkey and
Jacob Carles.
Jake Wagner extended the Wildcats lead to 6-0 on a two-RBI single to right that scored
Anthony Barbella and
Tristan Current.
Justin Porter (2-0) picked up the win on the mound for the Wildcats. He allowed seven hits and two earned runs in six innings of work. Porter struck out six and allowed just one walk. Penn College pounded out 12 hits with Rudolph paving the way with a three-hit effort and three total RBI's.
In game two,
Trailing 2-0 after the top of the first inning the Wildcats quickly tied the score with two runs of their own.
Nathan Gustkey knocked in the first run on an RBI single to right and
Tyler Rudolph followed with a bloop single to left scoring
Jacob Carles with the tying run.
Penn College took the lead in the bottom of the third inning with three runs. With the bases loaded Rudolph hit a sacrifice fly to right to put the Wildcats up 3-2.
Cameron Dick followed with an RBI groundout to third and
Shane Price knocked in the third run of the inning on a single to center. Penn College padded their lead in the bottom of the fifth on an
Anthony Barbella single to right field.
Cole Culver (1-1) picked up his first win of the season. Culver went 5.2 innings scattering two hits, three runs (one earned) while striking out four. The Wildcats tallied 10 hits in the game with Carles paving the way with a 4-for-5 effort and two runs scored.
The Wildcats return to the diamond on Monday when they travel to Pitt Greensburg for a single 9-inning game. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 PM.
