Box Score WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Two first-half goals and a third just over two minutes into the second half by Penn College's
Tommy DeGeyter led the Wildcats to their third-straight victory on Thursday night, Sept. 21, at UPMC Turf Field. The Wildcats improve their record to 4-2-1 while dropping the Defenders to 1-5-1 on the season.
How it happened: The Wildcats put all the pressure on the Defenders early and earned a foul in the box for DeGeyter to line up his first goal of the night in the 25th minute. He added his second goal at the 29-minute mark on an assist from
Brendan Geiger to make it a 2-0 game at the break. More pressure was put on the Defenders' defense to begin the second half which allowed DeGeyter to complete the hat-trick for his fourth goal on the year in the 47th minute to push the Wildcats to victory number four on the season.
Inside the box: The Wildcats offense blasted 31 shots with a dozen placed on goal and leading to nine Clark Summit saves. Penn College lined up for 10 corners and commited just five fouls in the victory. The Defenders were held to just three shots for a combined clean sheet by Wildcats keepers,
Cole Catherman and
Justin Potts.
