Wildcats split with Lycoming

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — Penn College's women's and men's tennis teams split in their matches at crosstown rival Lycoming College on Saturday with the women winning 7-2 and the men losing 7-2. The Penn College women now are 2-0 and the men are 0-2. The Lycoming women are 0-6 and the Lycoming men are 2-1.
 
How it happened women: Penn College won all three doubles matches and four singles matches in posting their first-ever win against the Warriors in 11 meetings.
 
Inside the box women: Wildcats winning in doubles were Ellen Buckley/Lauren Peck at No. 1, 8-3; Faith Murray/Georgia Macensky at No. 2, 8-4; and Jordan Specht/Sofia Caspina at No. 3, 8-4. Singles winners for Penn College were Buckley at No. 1, 7-6, 6-3; Peck at No. 2, 5-7, 6-3, 10-6 tiebreaker; Specht at No. 5, 3-6, 6-4, 10-3 tiebreaker; and Caspina at No. 6, 2-6, 6-4, 12-10. Macensky, at No. 3, lost in a three-set tiebreaker.
 
How it happened men: The Wildcats dropped all three doubles matches and four of the six singles matches.
 
Inside the box men: Posting wins for Penn College were Alex Norris at No. 1 singles, 7-5, 2-6, 10-8 tiebreaker, and Matt Williams at No. 2 singles, 7-6, 3-6, 15-13 tiebreaker.
