WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Penn College dealt Penn State Abington a 94-83 setback in a United East men's basketball game Tuesday. The Wildcats improved to 2-3 United East, 5-12 overall, while the Nittany Lions fell to 1-4, 7-10.
How it happened: Following two deadlocks in the opening five minutes of the game, Penn College took a 16-10 lead on
Landon Reeder's layup with 14:14 left. Abington answered with an 10-2 run to lead 20-17 with 11:45 left before the break. After four more ties in the ensuing 12 minutes, the Lions separated from a 40-40 deadlock with a 4-1 spurt to lead 44-41 at halftime.
Abington outpaced Penn College, 11-6, in the opening four minutes for the second and led 55-47 with 16:11 left in the game. The Wildcats answered with a 12-3 run, and a 59-58 lead, on a Reeder layup with 12:52 on the clock. The Lions momentarily regained the lead on their next possession before PCT took the lead for good on consecutive threes from Reeder and
Livingston Cross.
Inside the box: Cross finished with a game-high 24 points and 11 rebounds for the Wildcats.
Gavin Barrett dropped 19 points, dished out 10 assists, and grabbed six boards, while Reeder finished with 15,
Alec Cooper added 12, and Ron Flood Jr. netted 10.
Barrett is 10 points shy of 1,000 career points.
