WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Penn College junior
Gavin Barrett netted his 1,000
th career point in the Wildcats 85-71 win over Gallaudet in a United East men's basketball game Saturday. Penn College improved to 3-3 UE, 6-12 overall, while the Bison fell to 1-5, 2-16.
Barrett became the ninth player in program history to reach 1,000 career points and joined
Ben Sosa '20 as the second player to reach the milestone in the NCAA Era.
How it happened:
David Brown scored the Wildcats first 9 of 10 points to give PCT an early 10-4 lead with 13:24 left before halftime. Penn College took its largest lead, 29-15, on a Barrett three with 8:12 remaining before GU pulled within seven, 31-24, with 6:29 on the clock. The Wildcats ended the half with an 11-7 run to lead 42-31 at the break.
Gallaudet got as close as seven, 47-40, early in the second half before the Wildcats pulled away and led by double-digits much of the remainder of the game.
Inside the box: Barrett picked up his fifth double-double of the season with 18 points and a game-high 11 assists.
Livingston Cross earned his fifth straight double-double, and his 10
th this season, with a team-high 21 points and game-best 11 rebounds.
Landon Reeder netted 12 points off the bench, while
Adam McGinley (8 points) and
Christian Chandler (7 points) combined for 14 points off the bench.
