Teats Posts Double-Double Against Abington

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. -- Rachel Teats dropped a game-high 21 points to lead all scorers while grabbing 10 rebounds but it was not enough for Penn College as the Wildcats fell, 68-57 to visiting Penn State Abington on Tuesday in a United East matchup. Penn College fell to 1-4 in league play (5-13 overall) while the Nittany Lions move to 2-3 (6-12 overall).

How it happened: After Abington went up 12-6 late in the first quarter, the Wildcats went on a 12-0 run into the midpoint of the second quarter as Bell Hitesman started the run with her first bucket of the game. Kayleigh Miller and Teats followed with a pair of layup to pull the Wildcats even at the end of the first frame. Teats continued the run in the second with a layup and Lexi Troup drained a three to cap the run at the six-minute mark.

Troup found her mark from three-point range to push Penn College out to a 10-point lead (24-14) with 4:50 left in the half. Later, Teats hit a triple of her own to give the Wildcats their largest lead of the night at 29-17 with two minutes remaining before heading into the break with a 29-21 lead.

Abington's halftime adjustments proved to be the difference to score a game-high 24 points in the third quarter and 23 in the fourth to pull away in the second half. Penn College held on to its 10-point lead with a Teats layup at 6:49 in the third before Abington went on a 18-8 run and tie the game at 43-43 with 1:38 to go. Allie Troup and Teats hit 3-of-4 foul shots to hold a 46-45 lead heading into the final 10 minutes.

Abington used a 14-3 run early in the fourth quarter to gain a 10-point advantage (59-49) and the lead for good.

Inside the box: Pardee was a rebound shy of recording her own double-double, finishing with 10 points, nine boards and adding a team-best three assists and three steals. Lexi Troup joined Teats and Pardee in double figures as she scored 12 points.

Abington was led by Angela Sanders' 19 points and outrebounded Penn College 45-34.
