ALBANY, N.Y. – Penn College fell to Russell Sage College, 77-64, in a nonconference men's basketball game Tuesday. The Wildcats fell to 4-10, while the Gators improved to 6-4.
How it happened: After Sage started with a 4-0 lead, the ensuing eight minutes featured seven lead changes before Ronn Flood Jr. hit a three to put PCT ahead, 12-10. Flood's shot started a 14-1 Penn College scoring run which resulted in a 23-11 advantage after
Livingston Cross' layup gave the Wildcats a 23-11 lead with 10:34 left in the first. The Gators ended the half with a 26-4 scoring run to take a 37-27 lead at halftime.
Sage led by double-digits for the opening 11 minutes of the second half before PCT closed the gap, from a 59-42 deficit with 8:21 left, with a 14-0 run to pull within three, 59-56, on a pair of
Gavin Barrett free throws with 4:38 left in the game. The Gators outpaced Penn College, 18-8, in the final four minutes.
Inside the box: Barrett scored a game-high 25 points for Penn College, tied for a game-best six assists, and grabbed seven rebounds. Cross finished with 22 points and a game-high 14 rebounds.
Landon Reeder added 10 rebounds.
