CLEVELAND, Ohio — Penn College wrestling went 2-1 at the Dr. Si Ostrach Duals on Saturday, improving its dual record to 8-5 on the season.
The Wildcats rebounded with wins over Hiram College, 59-0, and Waynesburg University, 32-18 after dropping their opening dual, 32-12, against Albion. Albion and Hiram were first-time opponents and Penn College is 2-0 all-time against Waynesburg.
Three Wildcats went 3-0 on the day — Noah Hunt at 141 secured three falls — including being down 14-1 before rallying to tie the match and pinning NCAA D-III Central Region's eighth-ranked Austin Matheney, of Albion. Travis Green posted a decision, technical fall and a major decision and Kaden Ware had a decision and two forfeits for an undefeated day at 133 pounds.
Finishing 2-1 were Luke Heimbach at 125 and Nicholai Brotzman at 285.
Of the seven Penn College wrestlers who competed in extra matches, Zach Miller finished 2-0 with a pair of pins at 157.
