CENTER VALLEY, Pa. — Penn College's men's and women's cross-country teams both finished ninth at the DeSales University Invitational on Saturday. Sixteen men's and 13 women's teams competed.
How it happened men: Mitchell Campbell led the Wildcats over an 8K course with a time of 28:10.1 and placed 34th in a field of 180. Also, Alec Rees was 44th in 28:30.7, Ethan Knapp was 67th in 29:38.4, Holden Furey was 72nd in 29:58.5, Chase Ebeling was 80th in 30:08.1, Aaron Gurrisky was 93rd in 30:37.0, Noah Bowers was 100th in 31:05.1, John Yovenishon was 152nd in 35:17.2, Matt Wheeland was 165th in 37:13.2 and Owen Troup was 166th in 37:13.4. Only the top five count toward the team point totals and Penn College scored 247.
The men's field: Messiah University topped the field with 40 points, followed by DeSales 59, Widener 64, Lebanon Valley 112, Penn State Club XC 147, Delaware TC 172, Skulldogs Alumni 206, Greater Pascack Track Club 230, Penn College 247, Penn State Berks 298, RC-Gloucester CC 339, Shepherd 341, FDU-Florham 376, Lycoming College 394, Penn State Harrisburg 401 and Gwynedd-Mercy 479.
Individually, Widener's Thomas Flear placed first in 26:07.1.
How it happened women: Elaina Brady led Penn College with a 52nd-place finish in 27:44.8 over a 6K course in a field of 147. Also, Isabella Kerlin was 64th in 28:34.4, Lillian DePew was 84th in 29:33.2, Karleigh Hunter was 85th in 29:33.5, Kayleigh Miller was 97th in 31:13.4, Adelyn McDermott was 123rd in 34:59.9 and Isabella Telford was 139th in 40:36.5. Only the top five court toward the team point totals and the Wildcats scored 275.
The women's field: Lebanon Valley finished first with 45 points, followed by Haverford 54, Messiah 62, DeSales 130, Penn State Club XC 146, Delaware TC 160, Lycoming College 212, Shepherd 231, Penn College 275, Cedar Crest 284, RC-Gloucester CC 306, PSU-Berks 345 and Penn State Harrisburg 366.
Individually, Ellie Kozich of DeSales ended first in 22:28.3.
