Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Penn College Earns 10th Victory of the Season

PHOENIXVILLE, Pa. -- Penn College defeated Valley Forge, 3-2 in a United East Conference men's soccer match on Saturday afternoon to earn the 10th victory of the season in the regular season finale. The Wildcats put a bow on the season with a 5-1-2 UE record, 10-4-3 overall, while dropping the Patriots to 0-8-0 UE, 2-16-0 overall.

Penn College's 10 victories are the most in a single-season with Coach Mensch on the sidelines, and the most in the NCAA-era as the Wildcats will likely enter the United East playoffs beginning next Wednesday as the sixth-seed.

How it happened: Tied at 2-2 with the time winding under 10 minutes left in the match, the Logan Stapleton and Logan Confer connected for the game-winning goal that Confer rocketed in the upper middle of the net at the 83:23 mark and the Wildcat defense never allowed another Valley Forge goal down the stretch for the victory.

Stapleton finished the afternoon with three points after he netted the game's opening goal on a penalty kick in the third minute. His brother, Austin Stapleton pushed the lead to 2-0 in the 11th minute with an unassisted goal in the bottom right corner.

Inside the box: Justin Potts and Cole Catherman split the halves in net and combined for two saves. The Wildcats fired off 11 shots and led the Patriots with a 5-4 advantage in shots-on-goal.

Up next: Penn College hosts a United East first round match on Wednesday with an opponent and time to be announced.
