ELMIRA, N.Y. – Penn College fell to Elmira College, 55-47, in a nonconference women's basketball game Wednesday. The Wildcats fell to 0-3, while the Soaring Eagles improved to 2-0.
How it happened: The first quarter featured five lead changes, with Penn College taking its final lead, 9-8, on a
Gigi Parlante free throw with five minutes left. Elmira ended the quarter with an 8-2 run to lead 16-11. Elmira outscored PCT, 17-2, in the second quarter to take a 33-13 halftime lead.
Both teams netted 16 in the third quarter, while the Wildcats outscored Elmira, 18-6, in the final stanza.
Inside the box:
Rachel Teats scored a game-high 18 points and grabbed a game-best nine rebounds. Parlante finished with 12 points and seven rebounds.
