YORK, Pa. – Penn College stumbled in a 74-37 final at York College in nonconference women's basketball action on Thursday night. The Wildcats record fell to 1-5 overall, York improved to 3-3 overall.
How it happened: A two-point, 7-5, deficit following a
Rachel Teats triple and a pair of free throws by
Lexi Troup at the 5:45 mark in the first quarter quickly ballooned in favor of the Spartans who held a 22-11 lead after the first quarter.
The Spartans' pace was too much for the Wildcats who faced a 38-17 halftime deficit and were outscored 36-20 in the second half.
Inside the box: Troup was the lone Wildcat to finish in double figures as she scored 12 points and grabbed five rebounds. Teats added five points while finishing with a team-best six rebounds and three assists and came away with two steals.
York hit 44.3% (31-of-70) of its shots and forced 11 steals while limiting the Wildcats to just 24.5% (13-of-53) shooting
