WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Penn College opened conference play with a 62-55 win over Lancaster Bible College in a United East women's basketball game Tuesday. The Wildcats improved to 1-0 UE, 2-6 overall, while the Chargers fell to 0-1, 3-4.

Lexi Troup's trey midway through the first gave PCT an 8-2 lead before
Emily Pardee gave the Wildcats its largest lead, 14-5, on a layup with 1:05 left. PCT led 16-11 at the end of the quarter. LBC opened the second with a 6-2 run, to get with one with 5:52 on the clock, but the Wildcats answered with a 6-1 spurt to take a 24-18 advantage on a
Rachel Teats layup with 2:52 remaining, and led 26-23 at the break.
Gigi Parlante's six points sparked an 18-11 third quarter for Penn College and gave it a 44-34 lead heading into the fourth. A pair of Teats free throws gave the Wildcats their largest lead of the game, 49-34, with 7:58 left and a Parlante layup with 3:48 on the clock made it 54-39. PCT held a double-digit lead until under left in the game, and withstood a late Chargers rally to seal the victory.
Inside the box: Parlante was just shy of a triple-double, finishing with a team-high 18 points, and game-bests in rebounds (15) and assists (8). Troup finished with 13 points, Teats added 12, and Pardee contributed with 10.
