WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Penn College knocked off Gallaudet, 66-59, in a United East women's basketball game Saturday. The Wildcats stayed unbeaten in the United East at 2-0, and improved to 3-6 overall, while the Bison fell to 1-1, 3-7.
How it happened: Trailing 9-2, with 5:47 left in the opening quarter, Penn College used an 11-4 run to tie the game at 13 on
Lexi Troup's three with 1:31 on the clock. The Bison responded with a 4-0 spurt to lead 17-13 at the end of the quarter. PCT used an 11-5 run to open the second and took at 24-22 advantage following five straight points by
Gigi Parlante with 2:58 left before the break. After GU pulled within two, 26-24, with 25 seconds remaining,
Kayleigh Miller's putback as time expired gave PCT a 28-24 lead at halftime.
Penn College took its largest lead of the game, 36-24, on a Troup layup with 7:21 left in the third. Gallaudet rallied to get within six, 44-38, with 50 seconds left but buckets from Parlante and
Rachel Teats in the final 14 seconds gave PCT a 48-40 lead at the end of the period. The Bison got as close as four, 50-46, with 7:43 left in the game, but the Wildcats responded with a 10-3 run to lead 60-49 when
Emily Pardee found Troup for a layup with 2:16 left. PCT went 6 of 6 from line in the final 45 seconds to ice the game.
Inside the box: Parlante picked up her sixth double-double of the season with a game-high 23 points and 10 rebounds. Pardee recorded her third career double-double with 12 points and a game-best 11 rebounds. Teats added 14 points, five assists, and seven boards, while Troup finished with 13 points.
