Wildcats bank fourth-straight win in OT

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Penn College won its fourth-straight contest with a 58-49 overtime victory over Centenary in a nonconference women's basketball game Monday. The Wildcats improved to 5-6, while the Cyclones fell to 9-4.

How it happened: Trailing 49-46, with eight seconds left in the game, Gigi Parlante's three-point attempt kissed the glass on its way through the net to deadlock the game and force overtime. The Wildcats held Centenary scoreless in overtime and picked up five points from Kenni Galbreath and a bucket each by Lexi Troup and Rachel Teats.

Penn College trailed 43-38 to begin the fourth and used a 6-2 run to get within one, 45-44, on a Parlante layup with 4:14 left. Parlante later matched a Centenary score with one of her own to pull the Wildcats within one, 47-46, with 2:09 on the clock. The Cyclones added a pair of free throws nearly a minute later to go ahead, 49-46, setting up Parlante's late heroics.

The Wildcats battled back from a 43-33 deficit, with 3:35 left in the third, with five-straight points from Troup to make it 43-38 at the end of the period.

Penn College led 15-13 at the end of the first before the Cyclones outscored PCT, 17-8, in the second quarter to lead 30-23 at halftime.
