Wildcats Claw Back to .500 With Fifth Consecutive Victory

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. -- Penn College women's basketball capped the fall semester action with a 69-55 nonconference victory over Alfred State on Tuesday night and remained unbeaten inside Bardo Gym. The Wildcats, on a five-game winning streak, improved their record to 6-6 while dropping the Pioneers to 2-9 on the season.

How it happened: After falling down, 6-0 to start the game, Rachel Teats earned a trip to the free throw line after a drive to the basket and made both free throw attempts to get the Wildcats' first points on the board which sparked a 14-3 run which ended with a Teats layup to put Penn College up, 14-9 and in control for the rest of the game. A Teats three and Gigi Parlante layup before the buzzer closed out the first quarter with a 19-12 lead in favor of the Wildcats.

Penn College kept the offense moving in the second quarter with Teats scoring seven of the team's 17 points while Kenni Galbreath and Lexi Troup both drained a three and Kayleigh Miller added a layup to give the Wildcats a 36-25 lead at the half.

The Wildcats stretched its lead to 20 (47-27) with 5:45 to go in the third quarter on a Teats steal and layup. RaeAnna Andreas hit 3-of-4 free throw attempts to give the Wildcats a 56-34 lead entering the fourth quarter.

Galbreath's career-best fourth three of the night gave the Wildcats their largest lead of 23 points (59-36) with 8:56 left in the fourth quarter as the Wildcats cruised to the victory.

Inside the box: Parlante notched her eighth career double-double, finishing with 13 points and 10 rebounds while also coming away with four steals. Teats flirted with a triple-double as she finished with a game-high 18 points, nine rebounds and six assists while also poking away two steals and adding a block.
