WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. -- Penn College men's basketball cruised to a 100-71 victory over fifth-seed Penn State Berks in the first round of the United East Volt Division playoffs on Saturday. The fourth-seeded Wildcats improve to 10-15 on the season.
How it happened: PCT and Berks played back-and-forth through the first 10 minutes of the contest until a
Ronn Flood, Jr., triple at the 10:05 mark put the Wildcats up for good.
Gavin Barrett followed with two-straight layups and
Livingston Cross added another for a six-point lead, 27-21 over the ensuring two minutes. AÂ pair of Cross free throws put the Wildcats up by double digits as the Wildcats held a 48-32 lead at the break.Â
The Wildcats led by 20 (66-46) at the 13:30 mark after a Cross three and
Landon Reeder drained a pair of free throws to give PCT a 30-point lead midway through the second half as the 'Cats rolled to the century mark for the second time this season.
Inside the box: Barrett earned his second consecutive triple double - sixth in career - finishing with 22 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists. Cross also added his 15th double-double of the season, scoring a game-high 31 points and 15 assists. Reeder (20) and Flood (14) also reached double figures to help out the Wildcats' offensive attack which shot 55.2% (37-67) in the win.
The Wildcats held Berks to just 37.3% shooting as the Nittany Lions were led by Marquis Ferreira's 18 points.Â
