SCRANTON, Pa. — Two Penn College wrestlers went 2-0, including unranked Nicholai Brotzman knocking off a ranked regional opponent, and the Wildcats split during a tri-meet Sunday, losing to St. John Fisher, 37-9, and topping host Scranton for the first time ever, 44-12, to improve to 9-11 in dual matches.

How it happened vs. St. John Fisher: Brotzman needed just 45 seconds to pin St. John's Jackson Burns, who is ranked sixth at 285 pounds in the Feb. 9 National Wrestling Coaches Association Division III Mideast Region, for six of Penn College's points, and Wildcat TJ Martin, ranked seventh at 149 in the Mideast Region, accounted for the other three team points with an 11-8 win by decision.

Among the Penn College wrestlers coming out on the short end against other ranked St. John wrestlers were Noah Hunt, third at 141 in the Mideast, who was decisioned 10-7 by Alex Sampson, second in the Mideast, and Luke Heimbach at 125, who lost by a 22-9 major decision against Mideast eighth-ranked Dan Parkulo.

How it happened vs. Scranton: Brotzman completed his perfect day with his second fall — this one in just 28 seconds. Meanwhile, Martin won a major decision to also finish 2-0, while Hunt and Heimbach were among the early victors as Penn College took the first five bouts and grabbed a 27-0 team lead.
