WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Penn College fell to Lancaster Bible, 89-71, in a United East men's basketball game Saturday. The Wildcats dropped to 4-6 UE, 7-15 overall, while the Chargers improved to 8-2, 14-9.
Prior to Saturday, Penn College had already clinched a United East playoff berth. The Wildcats will secure the No. 4 seed, and host a first-round game, with a win in the final two games or a Gallaudet loss.
How it happened: Following
Ronn Flood, Jr.'s three at 16:48, which gave PCT an 8-6 lead, LBC answered with a 16-0 run to lead 19-8 with 14:13 left before the break. The Wildcats got as close as seven, 19-12, on a
Livingston Cross layup with 12:55 on the clock but the Chargers quickly regained a double-digit advantage and led 52-37 at halftime.
Penn College got as close as 10 on two separate occasions in the second half – the first when
Alec Cooper's traditional three-point play made it 63-53 before a
Landon Reeder layup made it 65-55 with 11:11 left in the game – but couldn't get any closer.
Inside the box: Cross scored a team-high 26 points, and grabbed a game-best 15 rebounds, for his 12
th double-double this season.
Gavin Barrett finished with 10 points and a team-high six assists, while
David Brown, who recognized in a pregame Senior Day ceremony, finish with seven points and five boards.
Lancaster Bible had five players reach double figures in scoring.
