Wildcats Come Up Short at Immaculata

IMMACULATA, Pa. -- Penn College kept Immaculata off the scoreboard in the fourth quarter, but it was not enough as the Wildcats came up short, 11-9 in nonconference men's lacrosse action on Saturday. The Wildcats sit at 2-5 while the Mighty Macs moved to 4-3.

How it happened: Immaculata jumped out to a 2-0 lead before Devin Page put the Wildcats on the board with an unassisted goal at the 5:26 mark. Immaculata answered with its third goal a minute later and Will Ehret put away the Wildcats second goal with 1:30 to go in the opening frame. 

The two teams traded goals to begin the second frame as Aidan McFalls scored his first goal of the afternoon as AJ Dotson found the Wildcat freshman for the score at 11:40. The Mighty Macs went on a three-goal run to build a 7-3 lead before it was the Wildcats' turn for a run. McFalls notched two goals at the 5:31 and 4:17 mark whole Dotson buried his second goal of the afternoon at the 4:27 mark as the duo pulled the Wildcats within one, 7-6. 

In the third, McFalls hit nylon for the fourth time in the game to tie the game at 
8-8. Immaculata used another three-goal run to pull away for good. Dotson recorded the final goal of the afternoon with the lone goal in the fourth quarter coming at the 7:09 mark.

Inside the box: McFalls tallied his first career hat-trick with four goals and added two assists for six points to lead the offense. Dotson produced four points with two goals and two assists while Same Nice and Page both scored once. 

Mason Nester continued to be disruptive on the defensive end with two caused turnovers and three ground balls while Brody Borkowski won 14-of-20 faceoffs and collected 10 ground balls. Alex Hammond recorded 11 saves in the cage. 

Up next: Penn College returns to its home turf to take on Juniata at 6 p.m. on Wednesday.
