WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. -- Penn College took care of business at home as the Wildcats defeated Alvernia, 11-8 in nonconference men's lacrosse action on Saturday. The victory moved the Wildcats record to 4-5 while the Golden Wolves dropped to 3-4.
How it happened: Penn College and Alvernia traded goals through the first 15 minutes as the two were tied 3-3 after the first quarter.
AJ Dotson scored the opening goal just seven seconds into the game before the Golden Wolves scored the next three goals. Dotson slowed the Alvernia run and
Gage Mcclune knotted the score, 3-3 with three minutes left in the quarter.Â
The Wildcats erupted for five goals in the second quarter as
Harrison Schlachta scored twice and
Aidan McFalls scored at the 5:57 mark to give the Wildcats a 6-4 lead. Dotson and
Will Ehret tallied the final goals of the half for the 8-5 advantage.Â
PCT's final points came in the third as
Jake Small, McFalls and Ehret all hit nylon.Â
Inside the box: Dotson picked up his third hat-trick of the season and added an assist for a game-high four points. Small finished with a goal and three assists for four points. McFalls, Schlachta and Ehret all scored two goals.
Austin Callahan led the defense with two caused turnovers while Smalls scooped up four ground balls and
Alex Hammond collected 10 saves in his second victory on the year.
Colin McFadyen led Alvernia with three goals and an assist.
