Wildcats Drop 14-10 Final Against Hornets

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. -- Penn College dropped a 14-10 final score against Shenadoah in nonconference men's lacrosse action on a soggy Saturday afternoon. The Wildcats fell to 2-4 on the season while the Hornets are 4-2.

How it happened: Shenandoah went out to a three goal lead before AJ Dotson got the Wildcats on the board midway through the first quarter. Harrison Schlachta notched his first goal of the afternoon three minutes later and Aidan McFalls added a goal with 42 seconds left in the first as the Hornets held an 8-3 lead.

Penn College scored the only goal in the second on the stick of Sam Hills with 2:34 before the half. The Wildcats won the third quarter with four goals from Hills, Schlachta, Brendan Kuczma and Devin Page to get within three (11-8).

Will Ehret continued to hold momentum for the Wildcats with a goal at the 13:12 mark in the fourth, but a three-goal run from the Hornets to stretch their lead to 14-9 stalled the momentum. Jake Small added the final tally of the afternoon with 10:36 to play.

Inside the box: Hills and Schlachta both scored a team-best two goals. Schlachta added an assist and Dotson had a team-best four points with a goal and three assists. Defensively, Mason Nester caused two turnovers and collected three ground balls. After subbing in late in the first quarter, Dax Shallis earned 18 saves.

Logan Clingerman led the Hornets with seven goals and an assist.

Up next: Penn College visits Immaculata next Saturday for a 3 p.m. faceoff.
