MIDDLETOWN, Pa. – Penn College lost a pair of games against Penn State Harrisburg in a United East softball doubleheader Sunday. The Wildcats lost 5-1 in the first game and fell 3-1 in the nightcap. Penn College dropped to 7-3 United East, 15-7 overall, while the Nittany Lions improved 8-4, 18-8.
In game one,
Harrisburg took a 1-0 lead in the first inning before
Madison Shaffer tied the game with single to center in the second. The Lions added four in the third and held Penn College scoreless the remainder of the game.
Margaret Mangene led the Wildcats with three hits.
Mackenzie Weaver fell to 8-5 after allowing five earned, on nine hits, with four strikeouts.
In game two,
The Lions broke a scoreless tie with three runs in the fourth inning before Mangene singled in the Wildcats lone run in the sixth.
Fayth Anderson fell to 6-2 after surrendering three earned, on three hits, with five strikeouts and two walks.
