WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. -- Penn College men's lacrosse came up short against crosstown rival Lycoming College, 11-8 in the final nonconference contest of the season on Wednesday night. The Wildcats dropped to 8-8 on the season while the Warriors are 5-8.
How it happened: Harrison Schlachta opened the scoring with an unassisted goal at the 11:24 mark before Lycoming took a 3-1 lead at the 4:32 mark in the first quarter.
Sam Nice netted a goal with a minute left as the Warriors took a 4-2 lead after the first 15 minutes of action.Â
Aidan McFalls netted two and Schlachta tallied another in the second quarter to get tht e Wildcats within 6-5 at the half.
AJ Dotson tied the game at six at the 10:41 mark in the third quarter before the Warriors answered with two goals. Dotson scored just before the end of the third period to get the Wildcats within 8-7 for the final 15 minutes.Â
Lycoming scored three times in the final frame as Schlachta was the lone Penn College scorer at the 5:13 mark.
Inside the box: Schlachta finished with his fourth hat-trick of the season while Dotson and McFalls both scored twice.
Ben Malarkey and
Joey Rebilas both scooped upa team-best five ground balls as Rebilas was a perfect 11-for-11 at the faceoff.
Alex Hammond stopped 11 in net.
Rory Hines led the Warriors with six goals and one assist.
