Penn College blanks Gallaudet

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Penn College swept Gallaudet, 9-0 and 11-0, in a United East softball doubleheader Wednesday. The Wildcats improved to 14-4 United East, 24-8 overall, while the Bison fell to 0-18, 4-24.

In game one,
Penn College broke a scoreless tie in the third inning when Madison Herriman gave the Wildcats a 1-0 lead with a sacrifice to left. PCT plated three in the fourth with RBIs from Mackenzie Weaver and Sophia LaSpina and an error. Ivvy Morder's two-run double to left in the fifth made 6-0 before a LaSpina triple, Herriman's single, and a Lexi Snyder single in sixth made it 9-0.

Herriman, Weaver, LaSpina, and Hailey DeBrody all picked up two hits. Weaver improved to 12-6 after a six inning two-hitter, with eight strikeouts, and three walks.

In game two,
Two Gallaudet errors in the first led to three runs, while Morder brought in a run with a sacrifice, Jesse Brumbaugh and Herriman knocked in runs with singles, and LaSpina drove in another on a double to give PCT a 7-0 lead. An error in the second put the Wildcats ahead 8-0 before Madison Shaffer's single, a Snyder sacrifice, and Weaver's double made it 11-0 in the third.

Herriman, Weaver, and LaSpina all finished with two hits and Fayth Anderson fired a two-hitter, with nine strikeouts, to improve to 11-2.
